REIDSVILLE, N.C. — A Reidsville couple known for giving to others is now getting help from the community in their fight against cancer.
In August 2014, John Bassett learned that his wife, Beth, had acute myeloid leukemia, an aggressive form of blood and bone marrow cancer in which abnormal white blood cells grow rapidly, hindering the growth of normal blood cells.
“It turned our world upside down,” John said. “Everything else stopped moving.” Before Beth’s diagnosis, the Bassetts often rode in motorcycle rides to raise money for charities and people in need.
