HANOVER, Va. — A veteran fire chief with cancer was welcomed home by fellow firefighters after being released from the hospital Tuesday.

Hanover Assistant Fire Chief Henri Moore has been battling an aggressive form of cancer; he will continue treatment outside the hospital.

Fellow firefighters escorted Chief Moore from the hospital to his home, where dozens of other colleagues were waiting for him.

A Facebook video posted by Hanover Fire and EMS captured his arrival and included numerous messages from colleagues wishing him well.

“Hey Chief, we just wanted to welcome you home, and remind you of three quick things that cancer cannot take from you: It cannot corrode your faith, it cannot shut out all the memories we’ve had and it cannot silence your courage,” one colleague said.
