LAKE MILLS, Wis. — In the wake of a fatal gas explosion that left one firefighter dead, a young boy decided to help out in a big way.

WSFA reported that Gavin Martin, 5, opened a lemonade stand and raised nearly $6,000 for the Sun Prairie Fire Department, who recently experienced the death of Capt. Cory Barr when a natural gas explosion occurred.

Gavin’s mom, Linda, said she was not expecting such a big turnout for her son’s venture.

“We just went out there with a lemonade stand, a pitcher of lemonade, a couple of cups, a little cup – hoping, you know, if we got $60 we were going to be super excited,” Linda said.

Gavin and his family went through around 125 gallons of lemonade over three days to raise the money for the department.

When asked if he would ever hold another fundraiser again, Gavin responded, “Oh yeah.”
