UPDATE: Firefighters are still battling hot spots Tuesday morning, after an 8-alarm fire destroyed a New Jersey church.

FLORENCE TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Firefighters were battling a massive blaze that broke out a church in Burlington County Monday evening, officials said.

Multiple fire departments and emergency personnel from several counties responded to Fountain of Life Center in Florence Township to fight the five-alarm fire, authorities said.

The main building of the church had totally collapsed Monday night, reporters observed on the scene.

Crews were transporting additional water to the scene on tanker trucks shortly before 10 p.m.

A nearby water main break slowed firefighters’ efforts to douse the blaze but as of 10:30 p.m. it was mostly contained, fire officials told NJ Advance Media.

No injuries were reported, officials on the scene said.
