IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. — A Michigan firefighter was trapped under a partial wall collapse Saturday after attempting to extinguish a blaze that destroyed a gas station and Burger King.
Fire crews were dispatched after smoke was reported coming out of the building. When they arrived, flames were consuming the gas station and a portion of the Burger King addition.
Iron Mountain Daily News reported that the unidentified firefighter was trapped for about two minutes by a failure of a portion of the storefront shortly after arriving on the scene. A second firefighter suffered smoke inhalation.
Both were taken to the hospital and later released; both are expected to fully recover. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
