NAPERVILLE, Ill. — An Illinois firefighter-paramedic wrote and performed a parody country song to promote healthy habits and make people smile during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Naperville Firefighter-Paramedic Billy Croft wrote the song “Get Your Mask On,” based on “Get Your Shine On” by Florida Georgia Line, and a video of him singing and strumming his guitar was posted on the Naperville Fire Department’s Facebook page on Saturday.

In addition to masks, the song also mentions hand-washing and hand sanitizer, and even references toilet paper shortages seen in the early days of the pandemic.

“Life is stressful enough, and this job can be extremely stressful so I’ve always looked at the glass half full and using humor to make somebody smile, that’s sometimes the best medicine,” Croft told WBBM NewsRadio.
