NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — Fellow firefighters are collecting donations for one of their own after he lost his home Sunday in a fire.
Northborough firefighter Todd Yellick was awakened by smoke detectors in his home Sunday. He quickly evacuated his wife and two children and began battling flames with a garden hose. Fire crews from several departments in the area responded to the blaze, which took about 90 minutes to extinguish.
The home was a total loss, reported CBS Boston. Yellick was hospitalized for smoke inhalation.

“When your family is what’s the most important thing, you would do anything you can,” Northborough Fire Chief David Parenti said.
Following the blaze, Yellick’s coworkers began campaigning to raise funds for him and his family.
“Todd Yellick has been a member of the department for over twenty-plus years and his family is well known in town. Please forward this post and keep Todd and his family in your prayers,” the department wrote on their Facebook page.
The department requested that donations be made directly, since GoFundMe charges a user fee.
“It’s hard to see any of our residents displaced by fire, but it is truly devastating when it is one of our own,” wrote the department.
