BROWN COUNTY, Texas — A volunteer firefighter lost his home to a fire Monday night.
KTXS.com reported that Bangs (Texas) Volunteer Fire Department firefighter Calvin Wells’ home was destroyed and the family’s dog died in the blaze. No one else was injured in the fire.
Five neighboring departments responded to the blaze. The home was fully involved with heavy flames showing by the time crews arrived on scene. Efforts to save the home were unsuccessful and it was deemed a total loss.
“Anyone interested in helping the family out can contact the Brooksmith Volunteer Fire Department to get information,” a Facebook post to the Bangs Fire and Rescue Facebook page said. “We are all family in the fire service. Booksmith is one of many departments that have always been there to help serve our community ... a huge thanks to everyone who helped fight this fire today.”
A GoFundMe page has also been set up to help the family.
