FLORENCE, Ky. — A man was arrested and is in custody on a manslaughter charge after killing an off-duty firefighter in a crash over the weekend.
FOX19 reported that William Stanton, 47, is charged with criminal mischief, assault and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance. His bond is set at $200,000.
Firefighter Jason Richardson, 39, died following the head-on collision just before 2 p.m. Saturday. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Aurora (Ind.) Fire Department since 2008. Richardson’s passenger suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital.
Stanton sustained minor injuries and was treated at a hospital.
An investigation into the crash continues and toxicology results are pending.
