Wyo. fire station explodes, engines destroyed

A frayed propane line leaked and was ignited by the station’s heating system

TEN SLEEP, Wyo. — A propane leak is being blamed for destroying a Wyoming firehouse Saturday night.

The Sheridan Media reported that the Ten Sleep Volunteer Fire Company also lost five apparatus in the blast.

Fire Chief Norman Mullis told reporters that a frayed propane line leaked and was ignited by the station’s heating system.

The firehouse exploded shortly before 7 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No one was in the building at the time and no injuries were reported.

Fire departments from surrounding communities have since volunteered trucks and supplies. In the coming days, the department is going to be working with its insurance agency to replace equipment.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the volunteer firefighters.
