Fla. fire Capt. struck, killed by vehicle

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A fire captain died Sunday evening after being struck by a vehicle while on the side of a road.

Officials said Capt. Bradley Allen Deanda, 46, was parked on the side of a road while removing hunting gear from his vehicle. He had his headlights and engine on, reported WTXL.

Joe Louis Forbes, 78, struck Capt. Deanda and his vehicle; he was pronounced dead at the scene, reported the Tallahassee Democrat.

“We are deeply saddened and in shock over the loss of 24-year capt. Brad Deanda,” the Tallahassee Fire Department wrote on its Facebook page. “We ask that you keep his friends, family and our entire fire department family in your thoughts and prayers.”

Capt. Deanda leaves behind his wife and two sons.

The incident remains under investigation.
