Capt. Daniel Havicus’ “passion for his family and his job was evident in the way he carried himself every day”

TRACY, Calif. — A fire captain died last week after a short battle with an unexpected illness.

Tracy Capt. Daniel Havicus died Jan. 18, Tracy Firefighters posted on its Facebook page. Capt. Havicus fell ill during his shift Jan. 8, and was admitted to the hospital Jan.16, reported USFA. No other details of Capt. Havicus’ death, including the exact illness, have been disclosed.

Capt. Havicus, a 17-year veteran, joined the department in 1997 as a reserve firefighter, and became in full-time firefighter in 1999, reported ABC10.

“Dan’s passion for his family and his job was evident in the way he carried himself every day,” wrote the Tracy Firefighters union on their Facebook page.

He leaves behind his wife and four children.

A memorial service will be held Thursday.
