ELDORADO, Wis. — Community members and colleagues are mourning the unexpected death of a fire chief who was found dead inside a fire station Tuesday morning.
Eldorado Assistant Fire Chief Rodney “Tiny” Menne, 53, was discovered by a firefighter and plow driver who arrived at the station before their shift. Chief Menne was well-known throughout the community and dedicated 30 years to the department, reported WBAY.
“He was a funny guy. He liked to have fun,” Capt. Jerry Borski said. “It’s people like this who make our community a wonderful place to live and this community will miss Tiny.”
Chief Menne was also involved in leadership roles within fire and EMS, according to Legacy.com.
“He represented Fond du Lac County fire chiefs at meetings and his heart and soul was just into the fire service and EMS service as a first responder,” Steve Beer, Fond du Lac assistant fire chief, said.
He leaves behind his daughter and brother. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Jan. 21 at the Eldorado fire station.
