CARPENTERSVILLE, Ill. — Carpentersville Fire Chief Bill Anaszewicz confirmed Monday that a third child has died as a result of a house fire Sunday morning.

Two children were killed in the fire in the 1700 block of Kingston Circle and a third, who had been taken to the hospital, died of their injuries later the same day, he said. While identification has been released, it’s believe all were under the age of 4.

A fourth person, an adult, was also hospitalized; their condition is not known. Two other people who live in the home refused treatment, he said.

Two dogs perished in the blaze as well, officials said.

Village President John Skillman said a social worker employed by the village was working with the family, particularly helping them with funeral and burial arrangements for their three children.

The Fire Department was alerted to the fire about 9:30 a.m.

Neighbors said six people had been living in the home — three adults and three children.
