NEW YORK — An FDNY EMT has been arrested after a man was struck and killed by an ambulance in June.
EMT Iyana Curtis, 23, was arrested Thursday on allegations of failing to yield to a pedestrian, failing to stop at a stop sign and failing to exercise due care while operating the ambulance on duty, according to PIX11.
The pedestrian, Dane Striani, 63, was struck by the rig while crossing the street on June 30 and died on July 19, officials said.
Curtis was reportedly slowing down at the stop sign when she heard a loud noise and exited the rig to find Striani lying on the crosswalk. Officials say she rendered aid and Striani was transported to the hospital in the ambulance.
