WALDO, Wis. — A volunteer firefighter was killed in a crash while collecting donations over the weekend.

Waldo firefighter Ryan Moyer, 31, was driving a pickup truck with two other firefighters when the crash occurred, reported WTMJ-TV. MySheboygan reported that Moyer’s truck left the roadway, went through a ditch and landed in a field. The firefighters were collecting donations for the department’s brat fry fundraiser.

Moyer died at the scene, one firefighter was transported to the hospital for serious injuries, and the other had non life-threatening injuries.

“Ryan’s dedication and spirit will be sorely missed. Ryan was a five-year member of the Waldo Fire Department. His accomplishments within those five years were nothing short of amazing,” Waldo Fire Chief Jason Parrish said.

Moyer leaves behind his wife and 3-month-old son.

Officials are investigating the crash. Funeral arrangements are pending.
