YORK BEACH, Maine — A volunteer firefighter died Friday morning after a tractor-trailer he was driving crashed into a utility pole.
Firefighter Samuel Horn, 66, was found in the vehicle with his seat belt on, the Portland Press Herald reported.
Officials said there was minor damage to the vehicle, which snapped the utility pole and broke another pole. The crash caused a temporary power outage.
A relative of Horn’s told officials he had a history of cardiac problems.
A medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine Horn’s cause of death.
York Beach Fire Chief David Bridges said Horn had previously served as deputy chief, but has since served as a firefighter for the department.
