FORT WASHINGTON, Md. — A retired Prince George’s County Fire Department chief died following a two-car accident Saturday morning.

WJLA reported that deputy chief Carla D. Blue, who was driving the first car, died at the scene, and a second unidentified driver suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Blue worked for the department for 20 years before retiring in October 2009. She has a son, named Jamar, who works as a Prince George’s County firefighter as well.

Police said the accident occurred after a car tried to make a left turn onto a road, leading to the cars crashing at an intersection.

Funeral arrangements for Blue are pending.
