MOSCOW — The Russian firefighting plane that disappeared and crashed while battling wildfires in Siberia last week was functioning properly before crashing.
The crash killed all 10 crew members.
Russian Emergency Situations Minister Vladimir Puchkov said the technological systems on the plane were working properly before it crashed.
According TASS, the finding points to the possibility that the pilot may have lost orientation in the thick smoke from the July 1 blaze.
Rescue teams have located all the bodies of the crew and have decoded the plane’s flight-data records.
The plane was found less than 3 miles south of Rybny Uyan.
