ALANSON, Mich. — Two firefighters were injured Monday afternoon battling a brush fire that burned out of control near Alanson.
Scott Granger, assistant chief of the Alanson-Littlefield Fire Department, said two of his agency’s firefighters suffered heat-related ailments at the scene in western Littlefield Township. One was treated at the scene, while the other was taken to McLaren Northern Michigan hospital and released later on Monday.
“There was an illegal burn. It was a controlled burn that escaped due to wind and dry conditions,” said Eric Bottorff, of the Department of Natural Resources.
