COLUSA COUNTY, Calif. — The 16 Complex along Highway 16 in Colusa County was contained by Tuesday morning.

The two fires burned 17,944 acres, but no structures were destroyed. Six firefighters were hurt.

The fire broke out Sept. 4.

Firefighters were also closing in on the two largest fires still burning in Northern California Tuesday afternoon. Both were triggered by lightning Aug. 18:

  • The North Pass Fire, northeast of Covelo, was 97 percent contained at 41,983 acres. Forest Highway 7 over Mendocino Pass has been reopened. Full containment is expected Thursday. There are still 292 people working the mop up phase as of Tuesday evening.
  • The Bagley Fire northwest of Burney near the Big Bend of the Pit River was 90 percent contained at 46,011 acres. Containment is expected Saturday; 475 people are fighting the fire. Other fires still burning Tuesday evening include:
  • Stafford Fire, southeast of Hayfork in Trinity County: 4,481 acres, 85 percent contained. All evacuation orders have been lifted. There were 1,165 people fighting the fire, which broke out Sept. 5.
  • Scotts Fire, on Cow Mountain east of Ukiah: 4,618 acres, 70 percent contained. All evacuations lifted. There were 1,480 people fighting the fire that broke out Friday.
  • Ward Fire, near Castella along Interstate 5: 462 acres, 20 percent contained. Voluntary evacuations in the Hazel Creek area. There were 602 people fighting the fire that broke out today.
