RIO DELL, Calif. — A fire chief rescued a paraplegic man from a burning home by carrying him in his arms through the smoke.
NewsChannel3 reported that firefighters were called to a house fire just 11 minutes into a local parade. Rio Dell Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief Shane Wilson was the first to arrive on scene and happened to know the resident, a paraplegic man.
When Assistant Chief Ryan Heussler arrived on scene, he saw what he described as “like a movie,” with Chief Wilson carrying the man in his arms through the smoke.
Chief Wilson took little credit for his heroic action, saying “it’s just what we do.”
