BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A massive fire at two factories in Bridgeport continues to have a widespread impact along the Connecticut coast. Bridgeport fire crews continue to remain on the scene of a massive fire at a factory building at 2102 Seaview Ave.
The fire was reported just before 7 p.m. Thursday, and fire officials said there are two businesses that occupy the building, a roofing company and a recycled perfume factory. Fire officials announced they closed Long Island Sound from Fairfield to the Poquonnock River to shell fishermen due to fears of contamination from that fire.
“Firefighters are working very hard under extraordinarily difficult conditions,” said Bridgeport Fire Chief Brian Rooney. “We have all hands on deck, plus [additional] hands from neighboring departments.”
