GLEN BURNIE, Md. — Anne Arundel County firefighters were called out early this morning to battle a commercial building fire in Glen Burnie discovered by county police officers.
Officers on patrol discovered the fire at 550 Crain Highway N. about 2:45 a.m. The fire occurred in an industrial park, where more than a dozen businesses were located said Fire spokesman Lt. Keith Hamilton.
Hamilton said firefighters did not enter the building and were able to control the fire by pouring water down through the roof of the building once it collapsed. Hamilton said an auto-body shop was completely destroyed by the fire, but could not provide a damage estimate.
The two-alarm fire took more than 90 minutes to put out. A total of 63-firefighters were called in to assist.
Fire investigators are still looking for the cause of the fire, Hamilton said.
