SMITHFIELD, Va. — A family of eight safely escaped a fire that destroyed their home Friday morning. Inside when the fire started were Alvin Wilson, his son, daughter-in-law and their five children.
“When I opened my door, I was greeted with a big puff of smoke,” Wilson said, “I looked down the hall and I couldn’t see anything. I just — ‘get up, get up, get up, get up quick. I said the house is on fire’.”
Wilson built the house for his family 40 years ago. He said his biggest concern is where the family will lay their heads.
Couple more images from on arrival at this mornings fire. Full write up and all images should be up on the website in the morning.
