DAVIDSONVILLE, Md. — A two-alarm house fire in Davidsonville caused some $150,000 in damage and sent a man to the hospital with serious injuries Saturday morning, a county fire department spokesman said.
Shortly after 7 a.m., firefighters were called to the 900 block of Malvern Hill Drive, where the first arriving units reported heavy fire and smoke coming from the basement of a two-story home, fire department spokesman Capt. Michael Pfaltzgraff said.
Crews began to extinguish the fire and called for a second alarm. It took 60 county, Annapolis, U.S. Naval Academy and Prince George’s County firefighters roughly 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control, Pfaltzgraff said.
Two residents were home at the time of the fire. A 57-year-old man was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center with injuries that were serious but not life-threatening, Pfaltzgraff said.
One firefighter was also taken to AAMC with minor injuries. He was treated and released, Pfaltzgraff said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
