MILWAUKIE, Ore. — A firefighting crew was endangered at a New Year’s Eve house fire by syringes strewn across the property.
KGW reported that a crew from Clackamas Fire Department responded to their fourth fire of the night at an abandoned house and encountered dozens of syringes strewn across both the outside and inside of the house.
Officials said squatters most likely started a warming fire, which grew out of control.
Firefighters said they extinguished the fire quickly but it could have been dealt with faster if the syringes had not posed a hazard.
The fire is currently under investigation.
