TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A Tallahassee elementary school teacher and her two children that attended the same school died in an early morning fire.
Firefighters responding to calls about smoke on Friday found 37-year-old Rajames Scott along with her seven and six-year-old daughters. The Tallahassee Fire Department said that Anisha and Aniyah Scott were taken from the house but they died later that day at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
The Tallahassee Democrat reported that the Leon County school district sent teachers and counselors to Sabal Palm Elementary after learning about the tragedy. The newspaper said that school officials made a decision to tell parents about the deaths on Friday, but they did not plan to inform students until Monday.
Sabal Palm Elementary has about 500 students.
