MILLINGTON, Tenn. — Fire investigators are working to figure out what sparked a massive fire that heavily damaged a Millington church early Wednesday morning.
The fire broke out at St. William Catholic Church on Easley St. around 12:30 a.m. Shelby County and Millington firefighters responded to the fire, which began in the back of the building — where the church’s offices and some classrooms are located.
Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to the sanctuary because of a firewall that separated it from the rest of the church.
There wasn’t anyone inside the church when the fire started and no firefighters were injured.
