CLEARFIELD, Pa. — A Clearfield Borough fire has turned into an even more serious situation for area emergency responders.

According to Clearfield County dispatch reports, a three alarm fire in a dwelling on Daisy Street evolved into a mayday call about 9:30 a.m., when three firefighters from Lawrence Township Fire Company were entrapped when a porch on the home collapsed on them. One of the firefighters suffered serious injuries and was transported to UPMC Altoona, according to an official from the Clearfield County Emergency Management Agency.

People in the home when the fire started escaped unharmed.

Fire companies from around the area were called to the Clearfield blaze. Alpha Fire Company in State College was transferred to cover the Moshannon Valley area as Philipsburg Fire Department has responded to the Clearfield call.

“Our thoughts are with our fellow brothers and sisters of the Clearfield Fire Dept. While operating at a now three-alarm fire a structural collapse occurred, trapping multiple firefighters. We do not know any conditions at this time. Occurring now,” said a Centre County Fire Wire status on Facebook at 9:31 a.m.
