Mich. firefighters battling massive warehouse fire

Residents are being asked to boil water due to low water pressure caused by firefighting efforts

HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. — Firefighters are working to put out a massive warehouse fire that started Wednesday morning.

Fox2Detroit reported that employees inside the building called 911 after a small fire broke out. Propane tanks, cardboard and pallets inside the recycling facility are fueling the fire. Some residents nearby were forced to leave their homes because of the smoke. A nearby school was also evacuated.

Explosions were heard coming from the building as the fire burned.

There was no immediate word of the cause of the fire. One worker was inside the building but escaped unharmed.

The city is currently under a boil water advisory and fire officials said the blaze could burn for the next two days.
