NEW YORK CITY — A massive fire engulfed a Bronx building Thursday morning and threatened to spread to others nearby, an FDNY spokesman said.
About 200 firefighters were at 3985 White Plains Rd., a commercial building near East 226th Street, to battle the blaze that erupted about 6:15 a.m., the spokesman said.
The fire spread to nearby buildings, but those blazes were quickly extinguished, the spokesman said. The main fire was still raging at 8:15 a.m. and firefighters were still concerned that it could spread again.
