NEW YORK — A probationary firefighter who was burned after he fell through a floor at a house fire has been released from the hospital.
SiLive.com reported that firefighter Lawrence Wasser, 23, who graduated from the fire academy in November, suffered second- and third-degree burns to his hands fighting the blaze Monday night.
Wasser smiled and shook hands with fellow firefighters as he walked out of the hospital’s burn unit.
About 100 firefighters responded to the three-alarm blaze. The fire appeared to have started in the basement.
