ASHTABULA, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Health says there’s no risk from drug residue in the air at a nursing home that had a fatal methamphetamine lab fire.
The Star-Beacon of Ashtabula reports (http://bit.ly/GCh3QX) the results were based on samples analyzed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and collected in the days after the March 4 fire at the Park Haven Home.
The fire broke out in a resident’s room from what authorities say was a portable meth lab. One man, who police said was not a resident of the home or an employee, was killed.
The state is taking steps to revoke the license of the Ashtabula facility after a review cited seven violations, including failure to have a written plan to evacuate residents in an emergency.
