GREENFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Two volunteer Pa. firefighters rescued a man from a fully engulfed crashed car Wednesday morning. The two were en route to the station in their personal vehicles when they came upon the crash scene.
An unidentified 25-year-old driver lost control of his car hitting several objects including a mailbox, a tree and a car before crashing and catching on fire, according to WNEP.
Two volunteer firefighters arrived at the scene and saw the car fully engulfed in flames.
“He was just screaming to get me out, he was in a fully engulfed vehicle, he was totally surrounded by flames,” said Clifford Township Firefighter Nick Bonczkewicz.
Firefighter Bonczkewicz pried open the driver’s side door and pulled the man to safety while another, the police chief, used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames.
“He’s an absolute true hero, and we just couldn’t be more proud of him,” said Clifford Township Fire Department Assistant Chief Dan O’Rourke.
