DES MOINES, Wash. — Investigators are calculating the damage and looking for the cause of a fire that injured two people and damaged or destroyed a dozen boats at a marina on Puget Sound about 15 miles south of Seattle.

Assistant Chief Gordie Olson with South King Fire and Rescue tells KIRO-TV that a young couple were working on their boat Sunday night at the Des Moines Marina when suddenly there was a flash fire that quickly spread to other vessels. They were hospitalized with burns on the upper parts of their bodies.

The state Department of Ecology says an oil containment boom was placed in the water to contain any oil that may have leaked from the boats.
