BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Brevard County Fire Rescue Chief Larry Collins was fired this morning following a difference of opinion about the future of the agency between him and County Manager Stockton Whitten, according to county spokesman Don Walker.
“I wanted to go a certain way, and if your boss doesn’t see it that way, it’s better to just move on,” Collins told FLORIDA TODAY. “It’s certainly his prerogative as the boss.”
Collins declined to go into detail about their disagreement, but said he appreciates his time with the agency. Collins was chief for five years and earned a salary of $104,549. He was given pay for 90 days as part of his severance.
