BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The Perry Clear Creek Fire District will have an entirely new board by the end of the week.
All three members submitted letters of resignation, which were accepted by the Monroe County Board of Commissioners during their staff time Tuesday. The commissioners will ratify them during the regularly scheduled meeting on Friday.
Patrick Stoffers, president of the commissioners, asked fire district board members Steve Emery, John Moore and Roger Stewart to resign earlier this month following the demotion of then-fire chief Joey McWhorter and the district’s longtime office manager.
Emery agreed to resign at the time, but Moore and Stewart asked for formal hearings. However, the hearings, which were scheduled for Tuesday, were cancelled when the resignation letters were received, county attorney Jeff Cockerill told commissioners.
Now, commissioners are tasked with finding and appointing three new board members.
Stoffers said commissioners will contact two possible candidates, but are not yet sure when the positions will be filled.
