BULLITT COUNTY, Ky. — A lot of people didn’t know Julius Hatfield would be at a special meeting of the Southeast Bullitt Fire Protection District Board, and they were not happy about it.

Nonetheless, the meeting did go on and members voted on important issues. It was a surprise at the very start of this meeting as Hatfield took a seat among board members. He resigned from this position in early December, but at the meeting, read a letter stating his intention to withdraw his resignation from the board.

“Neither the Fiscal Court nor the Judge Executive has made any acceptance of my resignation on the record and therefore I am within my rights to withdraw the resignation and resume my position as Chairman,” Hatfield said. The special meeting did go on with Hatfield, even though other board members and people in the crowd were not happy about it — some booing Hatfield.
