HAMMONTON, N.J. — Six volunteer firefighters were suspended, removed or resigned Monday after a town council meeting.
Press of Atlantic City reported that allegations against the firefighters, with the Hammonton (N.J.) Fire Department Station 1, do not involve monetary irregularities or problems with firefighter or equipment certification. City officials would not provide any further information.
The firefighter removed was a probationary firefighter.
Mayor Steve DiDonato said he will address the remaining firefighters at a special meeting Wednesday night.
“I would request that every volunteer be present,” DiDonato said. Two separate incidents led to the suspensions, he said.
Five council members voted in favor of the moves; two abstained due to their involvement with the fire department.
