WICHITA, Kan. — A Kansas firefighter was fired for lighting a fire at a downtown Witchita fire station.
The seven-year firefighter was terminated and five other firefighters were disciplined for the January 12 incident, according to KSN.
Firefighters had to stop a training exercise to put out the fire in an upstairs shower after Firefighter Jarrod Womack used lighter fluid to set a paper towel on fire.
“I was wrongfully terminated. Some guys in upper management have done the same kind of thing more than once,” Firefighter Womack told the TV station as he plans to appeal the firing.
