LEE COUNTY, Fla. — After four years of debates, proposals and failed meetings with Lee County officials, Bonita Fire chairman Steve Lohan has grown tired of trying to prove his district’s need for its own ambulances.
“No malice to anybody, but I’m tired of dealing with this,” Lohan told Lee County commissioners Monday. “Let’s do the right thing and put this issue to bed.”
Bonita Fire and Lee County commissioners will get a chance to do that next month when the parties meet for the final time. The elected boards, which met for two hours Monday to no avail, agreed to give their dispute one final shot before the matter moves to the courts. A meeting date has not been set.
