Woman alleges firefighters sexually assaulted her at firehouse

The 23-year-old woman met the firefighters at a concert; she got separated from her friends and they invited her back to the firehouse

NEWARK, N.J. — Police are investigating allegations that two firefighters sexually assaulted a woman inside a firehouse.

ABC7 reported that the 23-year-old woman said she met the Newark, N.J. firefighters following a concert last weekend. She told the uniformed firefighters she got separated from her friends and her cellphone had run out of power. The firefighter offered to help and the woman ended up at the firehouse. She contacted a friend and asked him to meet her at the firehouse.

While she was waiting, she said she was offered vodka from the firefighters and began drinking. She was allegedly invited up to the sleeping quarters. There are no indications she was forced, according to the news report.

At some point, there was a disagreement and the woman left the firehouse. The woman went to a hospital to be tested with a rape kit and reported the alleged sex assault.

The firefighters involved in the incident haven’t been suspended from the department, but are facing charges for bringing the woman to the firehouse.
