SEVERN, Md. — Buried alive. A construction worker dies in Anne Arundel County after a trench he was digging collapsed around him.
Derek Valcourt has the heartbreaking story of that man’s final moments and the frantic efforts to save him.
He was standing in an eight to nine foot hole when the walls just collapsed and buried him over his head. Witnesses say they could hear his muffled screams for help from below the ground and there was little they could do to help him. As firefighters worked to remove the body of a 25-year-old construction worker buried under the sand, his heartbroken coworkers could only watch in stunned disbelief.
