TRUMANSBURG, N.Y. — A girl was rescued and taken by medical helicopter to a hospital after falling from the South Rim Trail of Taughannock Falls State Park on Friday afternoon.

The girl’s name was not available on Friday evening. The victim is under 18 years old, according to Trumansburg Assistant Fire Chief Rod Ferrentino.

First responders used a high-angle rope rescue to extract the girl from the state park. She was found on a steep, slippery slope near the upper falls, according to Trumansburg Assistant Fire Chief John Keefe.
