Firefighters rescue boy, 2, from washing machine

It took only a couple of minutes to free the boy, who was crying, but was unharmed

UHRICHSVILLE, Ohio — Firefighters rescued a 2-year-old boy who was trapped in a washing machine Wednesday morning.

Firefighter Justin Edwards said the boy had dropped his toy truck into the top-loading washing machine, according to the Times Reporter. He went into the washer after it, then became stuck in the machine.

“We removed the agitator, and he was able to slide out,” Edwards said, noting that it took only a couple of minutes to free the boy, who was crying, but was unharmed, according to the report.

The boy’s mother was at the scene when the incident occurred and immediately called the fire department, according to the report. She also had unplugged the washer, which was not operating, before firefighters arrived.

Edwards, a firefighter for more than two years, said it was his first washing machine rescue, according to the report.
