This past month has delivered some record amounts of snow and freezing rain in parts of the country. This has led to traffic problems for the fire service, especially with vehicle crashes.
Although the bad weather is predicted, drivers seem to not slow down and drive to the conditions. This leads to other problems for us — being hit by other vehicles when parked at an incident on a roadway.
It always good to use a blocker tuck when working on a roadway. This will reduce the exposure of personnel being hit and struck by other traffic.
