VACAVILLE, Calif. — The Vacaville Fire Department will get new rescue equipment aimed at improving emergency response to car accidents thanks to a grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.
The Foundation announced it will award the department more than $21,000 to purchase vehicle extrication equipment, including a new multifunctional rescue tool designed to help first responders operate more quickly and efficiently during vehicle accidents.

Department officials say the equipment will enhance firefighters’ ability to safely remove victims trapped in crashed vehicles and strengthen emergency response efforts throughout the Vacaville community.
The grant will be formally recognized during a public check presentation and equipment demonstration on Wednesday, May 27, at Firehouse Subs in Sacramento’s Crocker Village shopping center. Representatives from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, local Firehouse Subs franchisee Davis Tran and members of the Vacaville Fire Department are expected to attend.
The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation was established in 2005 by the founders of Firehouse Subs and provides lifesaving equipment, prevention education, scholarships, continued education, and disaster relief support to first responders and public safety organizations across the United States and Puerto Rico.
Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded more than $107 million in grants to public safety agencies. According to the organization, more than 70 percent of funding comes directly from Firehouse Subs guests and restaurant operations.
