MELVINDALE, Mich. — Thanks to some grant funds, and a rigorous replacement schedule residents in the City of Melvindale are being served by a new ambulance when the need arises.

The Melvindale and Dearborn Fire Department’s merged in 2013, leaving the personnel and equipment decisions on the head of Dearborn Fire Chief Joseph Murray.

“Dearborn really strives to keep out vehicles on a regular replacement schedule,” Murray said. “These trucks are expensive and it requires a lot of pre-planning to keep in line. Dearborn has a separate fund set up as a vehicle replacement fund.”
