Harris XG-75 offers reliable multi-mode communications

Having one radio to operate on VHF and UHF frequencies is a must for today’s fireground commanders

The big buzzword around emergency services in the years since 9/11 is interoperability in radio communications. Being able to talk to each other on the fireground is not only a must but a necessity for first responders. Many of the emergency services radio providers out there have been designing new radios to complete that task.

One of these is Harris, which has been a leader in international communications and related technology for many years. They recently introduced their new line of first responder radios, known as the XG-75.

The Harris XG-75 portable radio is a premier single band radio solution for public safety agencies that require reliable multi-mode communications.

This latest addition to Harris’ portfolio of mission-critical radios supports multiple operating modes ranging from analog conventional to Project 25 Phase 1 and 2, in a single band radio.

It also includes active noise-cancellation technology to deliver improved voice quality to first responders operating in high-noise environments, and is ideal for public safety agencies that need the full suite of P25 digital trunking features.

The radio supports the full range of P25 digital trunking features, including clear and encrypted group calls, priority scanning, preemptive emergency calls, late-call entry and over-the-air reconfiguration.

Available in UHF, VHF and 700/800 models, the XG-75 is ideal for public safety agencies operating on VHF and UHF frequencies that need to upgrade their equipment due to the FCC narrowband mandate.

Equipped with Harris’ active noise-canceling algorithm, the XG-75 improves the clarity of both analog and digital calls in high-noise environments. The radio also features an enlarged speaker chamber and 3.8W maximum audio output, resulting in clear, loud audio levels.

The XG-75 can also withstand challenging environments, including long-term immersion in water, and is available in black and grey, or black and high-visibility yellow casing.

Having one radio to operate on VHF and UHF frequencies is a must for today’s fireground commanders. It gives them a better line of communication to reach multiple agencies on the scene at one time.
